Samaria Gorge
Description
Exclusive tour of the Samaria Gorge. This renowned natural wonder, located in the heart of the White Mountains, offers a breathtaking journey through towering cliffs, lush forests, and crystal-clear streams.
Our journey begins with a scenic drive through the picturesque countryside, passing through traditional villages and awe-inspiring mountain vistas along the way. Upon reaching the entrance to the gorge, you’ll embark on a thrilling hike down into the canyon, descending over 1,200 meters to the valley floor below.
As you traverse the rugged terrain, you’ll be surrounded by the majestic beauty of the gorge, with towering cliffs rising on either side and the sound of rushing water echoing through the canyon. Along the way, keep an eye out for native wildlife, including rare birds, mountain goats, and endemic flora.
Midway through the hike, you’ll reach the famous Iron Gates, where the gorge narrows to just a few meters wide, creating a dramatic and awe-inspiring sight. Take a moment to pause and soak in the breathtaking scenery before continuing on your journey.
Finally, after approximately 16 kilometers of hiking, you’ll reach the charming village of Agia Roumeli, nestled on the shores of the Libyan Sea. Here, you can relax and unwind on the sandy beach, swim in the azure waters, or enjoy a delicious meal at one of the local tavernas.
As the day draws to a close, you’ll board a boat for a scenic cruise along the coast, offering stunning views of the gorge from the sea.
